Cell Phone Scams – Scams involving your cell phone is nothing new. However, they are getting more sophisticated and prevelent in our societies. It seems every time we turn around there is a new one sweeping the country and world.

You have to be diligent and watch out for these scams because of the type of information we keep on our cell phones these days. If you think about it, most of us access our personal email, bank, even social media accounts from our cell phone. Therefore, if we allow someone else to gain access to our cell phone, then we are very vulnerable to attack and potentially financial lost.

However, all cell phone scams don’t involve stealing your identity. Many aim to charge you with various bills and subscriptions. Today, we are discussing these cell phone scams and what you can do to avoid them. The aim is to make you aware so you don’t unexpectedly give away your hard earned money and personal financial future.

Text Scams – These cell phone scams can come in a variety of different ways. One of the more popular products is you receiving a text message claiming you have won a prize, a cash price. Excited, you are urged to call a number which is actually a pay per minute number where they hold you on the line as long as possible sucking the money out of you. Sometimes you are subscribed to a subscription service where it is very difficult to cancel and the cost just piles up.

Missed Call Scams – Believe it or not, scammers invest in their business. They purchase auto dialers that call many phone numbers at a time, leaving a miss call and sometimes a voice mail message. The aim is to get you to call back, re-route your call to a pay per minute number, and keep you on the line as long as possible. These are quick and easy ways for people to make money off your curiosity.

Voice Mail Message Scams – Scams involving your voice mail are out there as well. This one involves getting you to call a premium number as well. Once you call, you are kept on the line and the charges are racked up.

The bottom line to these scams are getting people to call back numbers they are unfamiliar with. If you want to make sure you don’t fall victim to any of these, then you must make sure you don’t call back unknown numbers. There is nothing good that could come from this action.

If you do happen to call back one of these numbers, then you should make sure to hang up as soon as you recognize they are just trying to keep you on the line. If you are not thirsty enough to try and win something for nothing, then these voice mails and text messages about winning a price shouldn’t effect you at all.

The bottom line is you need to be careful with your cell phone, who you call and protect your information. There are a lot of unscrupulous people in the world and they are dying to take advantage of you. Just make sure you protect yourself and not try to get something for nothing. It usually isn’t real and can cost you money. - Cell Phone Scams
