Don’t Give Up!

  • Sharebar

At some point or another in your trail of online-entrepreneurism you’re going to feel like giving up. You might not be making as much money as you would like to be, maybe no one is visiting your website, maybe you just can’t dedicate as much time anymore.

It’s a common feeling, I’m sure everybody has/or will go through it at point. So what do you do?

You tell the voice in your head to shut the f’ up, you look at what you’ve achieved so far and you work even harder.

Success takes time

There is no doubt things move faster online, email beat regular mail and then instant messaging beat email. However success still takes time, if we could all become internet millionaires in a week or a month do you think anyone would work a “tradition job”?

Online your greatest advantage is perseverance. When everyone else is giving up within the first six months, and trust me most do, you will push through the dip and come up the other side a lot stronger.

There’s always more to learn

Everyday I learn something new online, and I don’t mean random facts, I mean new information about subjects I’m supposed to have expertise on. I’ve spoke to colleagues and they feel exactly the same way, there’s an unlimited supply of knowledge online waiting to be absorbed.

You can’t buy experience

What’s the difference between me and someone just starting online? It’s not that I’m smarter, hardworking or better than them in anyway, it’s that I have years of experience.

Experience costs nothing online, and it’s available for you to own whenever you’re available to grab it. Whether you have an hour in the morning or four at night it doesn’t matter, the internet is waiting.

Success breeds success

It’s very easy to fall into the trap of becoming jealous of your bigger competitors. It seems almost everything they do turns into a success.

But it wasn’t always like this, at first everyone is struggling to make there first success (and a lot of people make it) but what’s important is what you do next. To become a real success you need to leverage your past successes, build upon what you’ve created to make something even bigger and better.

“Overnight success” takes years

Overnight successes are few and far between online, some people do get lucky, but I wouldn’t bank on it. You wouldn’t accept that as a business strategy offline would you?

A lot of what seems like “overnight success” online is actually the result of years of hardwork behind the scenes, connecting with people, learning, watching.

Celebrate the small victories

When you have one big goal it’s easy to feel disappointed when you don’t achieve it. For months I was earning money online but not enough to quit working offline and this really discouraged me.

If I wanted to earn $1000 online my initial goal should have not been to earn $1000 online it should of been to earn my first dollar online, then my first $100 dollars online, all the way to my full goal. This would of allowed me to recognise although I wasn’t achieving the end goal I was certainly achieving something, and that’s something to be proud of.
