How To Increase Used Car Value

How To Increase Used Car Value – The value of a used car is not set in stone. If you want to learn how to increase the value, then you have come to the right place. However, we must set expectations first. I am not saying you will be able to take a care that is worth $1,000 and make it worth $10,000, but it is possible to get the most value out of a used car if you are willing to do a few simple things.

Learning how to increase a used car value is very important to the seller, especially when we are dealing with a funky, weird economy like the one we are in today. Everyone is looking for a  way to make sure they are getting the most value out of whatever they are selling these days. Selling a used car seems to be a good idea, especially if it is just setting around in the drive collecting dust and taking up space. May as well make a few dollars off of it to keep you going through the  month.

There are a few very specific things you need to do to ensure the value of your used car increases instead of decreases. If you are trying to learn how to increase the value of the used car, then you want to make sure you give a few of these things a try. I am not suggestion that you must complete all of them, but complete the ones that make the most sense to you, at the right price, and you will be well on your way.

As usual, if you have anything add to the list be sure to share it with us in the comment section below the article. We love to hear from our readership as they continue to provide practical and real insight into the topics we discuss on a daily basis.

Enough of the chatter, let’s get down to business and figure out how to increase the used car value for your financial benefit. Take a look below:

Clean Interior & Exterior – Let’s face it, all cars look better when they are clean. Make sure you give the exterior a good wash and wax before placing the car on the market, but don’t stop there. You also want to ensure the interior of the car is clean as well. Vacuum the carpet. Wash the seats. Wax the dashboard. Your goal is to make this car shine like it was brand new again. It will only benefit you in the end as the new buyer walks up on the car for the first time and falls in love.

Repair Imperfections & Restore Interior – If there are any dents in the exterior of the used car, be sure to get it fixed. This doesn’t cost much and will will do wonders for the value of your used car. Make sure all lights are working, nothing is cracked or broken on the car as this will detract from the buyers interest and take away from the value of the used car. Make sure the car looks good enough for anyone that walks up and you will increase the value of your used car.

Add a Sun Roof – This may be asking a lot depending on the type of car, but buyers love sun roofs. There is no doubt they have come back in style. If you can find someone that will do it for a reasonable price, then go for it. If not, this could be one of the steps you can afford to skip, but at least consider it.

Upgrade the Music System – People spend a lot of time in their cars, so the music and sound system are very important to them. Keep this in mind when you are looking to increase the value of your used car. Upgrading the speaker system is a great start and shouldn’t cost you too much if you are smart about it. However, the upgrade I would call essential would be the one to the music player. CDs are fine, but most people would like to have an mp3 outlet in their car.

I don’t currently have an mp3 outlet in my car and am missing out desperately. If I were in the market for a used car, I would warm up quicker to one with an outlet for mp3 hook up.

Add Minor Custom Accessories – I don’t want you to go overboard here as it could get very expensive, but there are wonderful opportunities to increase the value of your car with accessories and upgrades. Add a new truck liner to your truck. How about some new chrome rims on a car? Maybe a spoiler is the call of order. There are simple things you can do to increase the value, but you don’t want to go to far and make the car only for someone that likes something wild and exotic.

Take your time when you are working on your used car and attempting to increase the value. It is possible, but you don’t want to spend too much money in the process. Remember, the idea is to increase the value so you can make money at the end of the day. Keep that in mind and good luck with the sale. - How To Increase Used Car Value

There are some great tips here, but I personally don’t know if it is worth it to spend money on a sounds system before you sell it. The buyer may not be interested in that and not willing to pay more for a nicer sound system. I guess it ultimately depends on the type of car and hwo you would market it to.

My casr fit the bill and they are even in good condition for 16 and 14 year old cars. I just am reluctant to replace them and have some payments..

I disagree about the moon roof and sound system. Yes clean it out, but don’t spend the hundreds on a non-factory moon roof and sound system. Maybe if it’s a 15-20k vehicle, but if you’re talking sub 10k why bother?
