Insurance Agent – Believe it or not, your local insurance agent may have a few options for you to invest in your IRA with them. This might be more appealing to you since your insurance agent is someone you have more familiarity with and trust built up. This is very important when it comes to investing in your retirement and dealing with your money. Trust is a major consideration.

Stock Broker – As you might have expected, you can approach your stock broker with the need to invest or even learn how to invest in an IRA. They have full service offerings and will be able to set you up with any type of IRA that will fit your needs. This assumes that you have a stock broker, if not there are still plenty of other options available to you.

Discount Brokerage Firms – There are many options to invest in your IRA and your discount brokerage firm can handle this request. It is more likely you are dealing with one of these brokerage firms, so this is something you should consider. And if you are with a decent one, then they should provide you with plenty of research tools to be able to get this information on IRA accounts and learning how to invest in them.

Financial Planners – Similar to your insurance agent, you probably have a good relationship with your financial planner. This is a great person to approach with your desire to invest in an IRA. They will have the information you need, be able to explain the pros and cons of the various accounts, and are familiar with your financial situation.     Thanks for the thorough break down. I don’t have IRA’s here in Canada but many of the same principles apply. If any of my friends or family in the USA need assistance with this, I know where to send them.
