Man Calls 911 Taco Bell

Man Calls 911 Taco Bell – At Taco Bell, a man calls 911 because he wasn’t able to satisfy his hunger for tacos. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it is a true story. One we had to cover because it is unbelievable how we disrespect our services, such as 911, in this country.

The man, Terry Kimbell, is 50 years old and was charged with the misuse of the 911 system at a Taco Bell. The didn’t spend much time in jail. In fact, he was released almost immediately, but had to take a ride to the Pinellas County Jail for a short visit.

The Taco Bell 911 incident happened late on Tuesday night. Like you would expect, Kimbell had been drinking….a lot. In fact, the man was drinking so much he didn’t drive to Taco Bell. He walked to Taco Bell.

Fearing he would get pulled over for drunk driving, hungry and ready to feed his cravings, Kimbell decided to walk to Taco Bell to get some tacos. The drive through window was open at the late hour, so he decided to walk through.

However, once the man got to the order window, he was refused service. Why? Because Kimbell was not in a car. Apparently, Taco Bell has a policy where they are not to serve people in the drive through window that is not sitting in a vehicle. Maybe Kimbell should have rode his bike….just a thought.

Kimbell was clearly irate over the decision of Taco Bell not to feed his craving for tacos. He argued with the Taco Bell worker that he just wanted some tacos because he had been drinking and was hungry. When the worker explained they could not serve him because he wasn’t in a car, the man couldn’t understand the policy.

Kimbell explained to the work that he had been drinking and didn’t want to get a DUI in order to have a few tacos. The workers stood their ground and refused to serve the man, so he called 911 for assistance.

Man Calls 911 Taco Bell Because He Couldn’t Get Tacos

The 911 operator wasn’t very receptive to Kimbell and his decision to call 911 in this situation. Obviously, it is a great waste of resources and time for a very important service to the people of this country. However, the 911 operator was very patient with Kimbell on the line and did send an officer out to the Taco Bell.

The officer arrived on the scene and I bet Kimbell was relieved and thinking he was finally about to get some service. However, the officer ended up arresting Kimbell for misusing the 911 service. He was taken tot he county jail, charged, and then released. This was not the scenario he intended.

Man Calls 911 Taco Bell because he wanted some tacos and didn’t want to get a DUI for drunk driving, which is admirable, but seriously. How many times are people in this country going to misuse the system? It seems like every time we turn around, someone in this country is doing something they have no business doing at the cost and expense of the rest of us.

911 is a very important service and shouldn’t be utilized as a frivolous resolution center. They take care of serious matters that hopefully we won’t need in the future, but it is great to have it there just in case.

It seems to me that we have a serious issue with the culture in America. We are manufacturing spoiled, entitled brats of citizens. Generation after generation it just seems to get worst and worst. What are we doing wrong that our citizens behave this way?

If you have any answers, I would love to hear from you. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the fact the man that calls 911 on Taco Bell was wise enough not to get behind the wheel of a car to drive. That was a very responsible decision, but clearly he wasn’t thinking straight or the culture of expectation we have created over rode his thinking and forced him to call 911. Either way, we need to get it together is my opinion, but what do you think? - Man Calls 911 Taco Bell

Some people are incredibly stupid! 911 is supposed to be for emergencies.

No kidding. The response time isn’t ideal as it is due to lack of resources in most places, let alone when stupid calls take up time. Gosh things like this irritate me.

Serious issue is putting it mildly. The number of “insane” people in this world never ceases to amaze me. And many of them are seen on tv!

I wonder if in his state he thought calling 9-1-1 equaled just calling the police for help. Although why he thought the police would help with a restaurant refusing to serve him is beyond me!

He was drunk. People do strange things on alcohol.

I think I would’ve just given him the service. Trying to reason with a drunk person never ends well, sometimes putting you in awkward situations. Giving him the service would’ve probably been the quicker solution to get rid of the man.

Heh heh, reminds me of the times when I was in college. We went through a taco bell drive-thru backwards in a car… The girl in the drive thru laugh (my buddy wanted to make an impression).

It could be funny but it is just sad. I guess the “First World Problem” meme is really true and not just something that internet people came up with out of boredom.
