The title of the most expensive home in America was given to a Silicon Valley Estate in March of 2011. Yuri Milner paid $100 million for the property. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, it did.
The record went up when billionaire heiress Petra Ecclestone purchased the Spelling Manor. The estate was worth $150 million dollars to Petra, who had just grabbed the title as the most expensive home.
Today, there is a new property on the market that is being dubbed as the most expensive home in the country. With a $175 million dollar price tag, the Jackson Land & Cattle ranch is clearly victorious.
However, the home with the new mantle as the most expensive is not what you may think it is. In fact, the actual home is not the draw at all. The home is an old barn that has been converted into a three bedroom home with stellar amenities. This is not enough to draw millionaires to want to pay this sort of money to live on this property.
No, it is not the four bedroom guest house or the two employee apartments on the lot either. These are nice additions to the space, but far from the reason this property is the most expensive home in the country.
It is the world class, state of the art, 52 stall equestrian center. Nestled on 1,750 acres of rolling, green land, this equestrian center is one to write home about.
The location of the property is just outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in Teton County. There are cattle and horses on the range. It features Aspen, evergreen and timber trees in the hills with hay meadows. There are three fishing ponds on the property, a beautiful spring creek and 800 acres of irrigated meadows with a beautiful view of the Teton Range of the Rocky Mountains in the distance.
Overall, the property is amazing, but the question is could you ever see yourself living in a place like this? Being that I am not a horse kind of guy, it seems impossible to me, but there are obviously enough people out there with some serious cash that believes this place is well worth it.
