Rupert Murdoch’s Mansion - After four long years on the market, Rupert Murdoch’s mansion has finally sold. The Long Island residence has eleven bedrooms and sits on 4.6 acres of land. Impressive to say the least, the property sold for $9.1 million, which happens to be much lower than the initial listing price.
It was said the millionaire real estate market was a bit soft, but most didn’t believe Rupert Murdoch’s mansion would sit on the market so long. The property was initially listed in June of 2007 for 14.8 million dollars. A price that may have seemed reasonable at the time, but obviously in the sinking real estate market he didn’t get the asking price.

Like many people that struggle to sale their home, Rupert Murdoch looked for some alternative ways to move the property or at least get assistance with the mortgage. After two years on the market, Rupert Murdoch’s mansion was rented out to the famous Hollywood pair of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2009. Believe it or not, the couple paid as much as $100,000 a month in rent for Rupert Murdoch’s mansion.
The buyers of Rupert Murdoch’s mansion has not been revealed to the public at the moment. Obviously, it is someone that feels the real estate market for mansions is hardening and the $9.1 million might be their last chance to pick up the mansion.
The mansion is outstanding to say the very least. It is complete walled off from the public, has it’s own security gate, a dock, beach, 50 foot swimming pool, 8 car garage, even a tennis court. The interior is opulent to say the very least and something millionaires all over the world would envy.
I believe the happiest person of all is Rupert Murdoch. Don’t he needed the money from the sale, but it is nice to have this looming real estate sale removed from his world because he has many other things to tend to these days.
As you may recall, recently Rupert Murdoch closed the longest running newspaper in the world, News of the Wold. The reason was because of the phone tampering scandal created by his reports which may extend into many of his other news outlets. - Rupert Murdoch’s Mansion
