+Woman Stuck In Tub 30 Hours -30 hours stuck in a tub leads a woman from Chicago to sue the makers of the bath tub. She was highly upset with the bath tub maker after her ordeal, but is going to live to tell her story and have her day in court.

Allow me to be honest when I first heard about this story, I immediately had a negative perception of the woman stuck in the tub for 30 hours. It was something inside of me that said this wasn’t right. However, after learning the details of the story, I have much more sympathy for the woman and feel like the lawsuit may actually have some merit.

You are probably thinking the woman is suing because should couldn’t fit properly into the tub, thus got stuck, and is now suing for being wedged for more than 30 hours. However, this isn’t the case as I assumed as well.

In fact, the woman is suing because of a malfunction in the tub and how the drainage system didn’t work when she needed it most. She may actually have a viable case. I thought this was going to be yet another frivolous lawsuit by a lazy, overweight American looking for quick cash at the expense of a business owner.

However, the case is actually much different. Mrs. Cullen lives in Western Illinois and is very upset with the makers of this $12,000 bath tub she purchased.

She installed the tub in her home a few days before the incident happened. While standing up as the tub was filling with water, she slipped, fell, and got wedged in the front of the bath tub. She was stuck.

Not being able to move, Cullen decided to try and drain the water because sitting in this water for hours would not be good for her at all. However, when she pulled on the drain to release the water it broke. There was no way to get the water out of the tub, so she had to remain there until someone found her.

Over 30 hours later, her daughter found her in the water unconscious in shock. She was out of the bath tub from hell, but the worst of her problems had only begun.

After being in the water for so long, her body didn’t react very well as you might have guessed. She had to go to the hospital for four days to recover, then off to a nursing home for three months as well.

According to the lawsuit, Cullen got into her Sanctuary model tub on Sept. 4th, 2010. This was the date all of this madness began in her life. I am sure at this point she doesn’t think this tub is anything like a sanctuary, which is suppose to be a place of peace, not terror.

The lawsuit claims there was a “failure and / or malfunction of the drain.” She is suing for more than $50,000 and I think she has a case.

Let’s be honest for a minute here. You have to be a bit releaved this isn’t a story of a frivolous lawsuit where the person suing the business is in left field. They are just taking advantage of the situation and trying to make a buck off the back of the business owner. In this case, the business owner is the bath tub maker.

I feel horrible the woman had to endure this sort of pain and humiliation, but glad to know it is over something that is at least plausible the company has responsibility for the drain to work. - +Woman Stuck In Tub 30 Hours

That poor woman! I am trying to figure out how she got wedged in the tub, but that is besides the point. She is lucky she didn’t drown at some point! I will be interested in following this story as it develops.

Denise, I was thinking the same thing, but it sounds so terrible to remain in the water that long. Think she definitely has a case, but will follow to see what happens in the future.

      Thanks for commenting.

Ok.1)What she doing standing in the tub with the water running?Takes a while to fill a tub and doesn’t sound like she’s in any shape to stand long.2) how big are you that you can become wedged in a tub?3)At what angle was she when she tried to remove the plug causing it to snap? She was consciuos that long.4) How unpopular are you that no one would miss you for 30 hours?Unless she gets the Casy Anthony jury,NO CASE!

LOL, great questions. I would like to know the answers to those questions as well. Sure all of that and more will come out in court.

    A $12,000.00 tub? What $12,000.00 tub has a cork-type plug with a chain? Ridiculous . . .

It still doesn’t sound right to me. It’s her own carelessness that made her fall.

It’s amazing how much sympathy every has for the poor woman but was ready to quickly condemn her if the woman had been overweight; making it a frivolous lawsuit?. If she had been overweight and got stuck, how is that less worthy of your sympathies?

Mercy, I am very guilty of your claims. I guess it really doesn’t change. For some reason that thought of being overweight and getting stuck reminds of the woman that sued McDonalds because she spilled her hot coffee.

It sounds to me like it was a walk in tub. The kind with a seat in it. You would have to be in it while it was filling. She was probably wedged between the seat and the front of the tub. Its a pretty small area. You wouldn’t have to be fat to get stuck there. The whole reason you buy one of these tubs is because you have difficulty getting in and out of the tub.
